Gary Neville labelled Tottenham as a "concoction of misfits" and feels they are "nowhere near" some of their relegation rivals.
Results went against Spurs on matchday 32 in the Premier League, and they now find themselves in the bottom three with just six games left.
West Ham's 4-0 win over lowly Wolves on Friday sent Spurs into the relegation zone, and a loss against Sunderland in Roberto De Zerbi's first game in charge left Tottenham in 18th place to finish the weekend.
To make matters worse for Spurs, Leeds United then claimed a surprise 2-1 win at Manchester United to move six points clear in 15th place, while Nottingham Forest picked up a point against Aston Villa.
According to Opta's supercomputer, Spurs now have a 49.5% chance of going down, and Neville has grave concerns over their squad's mentality.
"In the first half [against Man Utd], they [Leeds] were absolutely wonderful," Neville said on Sky Sports' Gary Neville Podcast.
"That is a performance I don't think Tottenham are capable of, and that is the scary thing for Tottenham.
"Not the six points that Leeds have gone clear of them, but the actual performance levels they put in. They [Tottenham] are nowhere near that.
"You watch Spurs against Sunderland and it is a set of ingredients that don't go together, a concoction of misfits, yet you watch Leeds and there is a balance and a flow."
Spurs are set to be without captain Cristian Romero for the rest of the season, after the defender sustained a knee injury in the loss at Sunderland.
De Zerbi's first home game in charge sees Spurs take on his former club Brighton on Saturday.
The Italian's first home Premier League game in charge of Brighton was against Tottenham in October 2022, with the Seagulls losing 1-0.
Only one of the previous 13 managers to take charge of Spurs have lost their first home game, though it was De Zerbi's predecessor Igor Tudor.
Spurs have lost their last four home games, only losing five in a row once in their league history, back in February 1994.
