Trent Alexander-Arnold didn't exactly receive the warmest of welcomes at Anfield on Sunday, and it appeared to grate with one of his Liverpool team-mates.
The England international announced on Bank Holiday Monday that he would indeed be leaving Merseyside at the end of the season, bringing an end to a near season-long saga.
Despite spending two decades at the club, and winning numerous trophies with the Reds, Alexander-Arnold's exit sparked fury among some sectors of the Liverpool fanbase.
As such, after dropping to the bench for the clash with Arsenal on Sunday, his introduction was greeted with boos from around Anfield.
Worse still, when lapping the pitch after full-time to applaud the fans, he was again given short shrift from supporters, though Dominik Szoboszlai seemed far from impressed by the treatment shown to his team-mate.
A clip posted on social media shows Alexander-Arnold approaching the Kop only to be booed by fans, though the Hungarian midfielder gestures in irritation, waving his hands dismissively before walking off.
Alexander-Arnold was already in the spotlight before the game even kicked off, having been named on the bench.
His spot was taken by Conor Bradley, who will be looking to show that he deserves to be the successor to the 26-year-old's spot in the team for the future.
It is likely that the Reds will look to replace Alexander-Arnold in the starting team, but there will also likely be a tactical change for next season, given how the system is set up to get the best out of his unique talents.
It was a fascinating clash on Sunday between the top two teams in the country, though there wasn't the impact on the title race many would have predicted at the start of the season.
Liverpool quickly took the lead through Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz, who struck within two minutes of one another, racing into a two-goal ascendancy by the half-time whistle.
But the Gunners bounced back with two of their own goals, with Gabriel Martinelli netting just after the interval and Mikel Merino pouncing on a loose ball for the equaliser, before seeing red and heading for an early shower.
While Liverpool had already clinched the Premier League title, it was a point that strengthens Arsenal's battle to finish second, given the visit of Newcastle in midweek with the Magpies in fine form at the moment.

Meanwhile Chelsea fans are too Hypocritical.... it's easy for you all to open your mouths and talk rubbish because of lack of proper understanding. the bitterness from the fans is that he literally ran down his contract and moved for free to Madrid... Madrid has been on him since 2023 but since he had time in his contract they both played along until now that his contract ran down... 3 different updated contracts were offered to him and he turned them down only so that he will fit in with the new format of acquiring players by Real Madrid. the same game they played with Mbappé and you will expect the fans to be happy with the fact that the little boy they brought up and made him a talisman will now walk out of the club for Free... without the club earning a penny from their investment on him... and you come here saying the fans are toxic... Mate... do you even know the definition of the word you used at all or it was just some randomly picked word based on its use on social media??? You people should try to be real because it this was another club some fans like you would have acted the same way
You will explain explain and explain tire🤣

Liverpool fans are just too toxic, players come and go.......if you don't want your players to go somewhere else, then stop buying players from other clubs.

Szoboszlai can leave as well we don't care. It will take the signing of one DM and Mac Allister will take his rightful position in the 10.

TAA didn't handle the issue well, He made the fans to believe that he can still sign for Liverpool until he made it clear of recent that he won't sign a new Contract with Liverpool

Nothing like karma to heat us..coz he's a dishonest, he make us believe him when the first time this reports of him to go to Madrid,by saying that, the only way Madrid can buy him is on fifa🎮...at the back of the club he was negotiating with Madrid how he will allow his contract to run to the end so that he can go on free..He make us believe that we have got another Gerrard but he chose to reject us and to be Owen..

As much as i’m disappointed with the fans, i understand how they feel as a Liverpool fan. I personally thought TAA would wait until our final game of the season at home against Crystal Palace to let the fans know of his decision, that way there won’t be an avenue for some factions the fans to boo him like this and he would’ve left on a better note. I think we should wish him the best unless we meet Real Madrid in any competition then we wish him and them the worst 😁

Lol, Arsenal don't remember booing Ozil and Aubamayang. Most clubs have challenged supporters, some more than others.
