Newcastle United are upping their interest in AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara (22), according to a report from I Paper.

Newcastle’s interest in the Senegal international is long-running. Camara has impressed since joining Monaco in the summer of 2024 and quickly asserted himself as a key player. This season, injuries have limited him to 23 games in all competitions. However, there is a clear difference when he is available for the Principality club. Monaco’s win percentage without him is 22% compared to 62% when he does play.

His performances have caught the eye of Newcastle United. Get French Football News understands that Monaco are not opposed to a sale this summer, although, having sold George Ilenkihena in January for €33m, there is no obligation for Les Monégasques to do business. As a result, it could take a big bid from the Premier League club to convince Monaco to part ways with Camara.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with GFFN in December, Camara addressed his future.  “For now, I am really happy at Monaco. I feel really at ease here: the players are kind and ambitious, and I have a manager who trusts me. I follow the Premier League a lot – everyone does. I’m not thinking about changing clubs but we will see what happens at the end of the season,” he told us.
