Newcastle have agreed a £125million deal with Liverpool for Alexander Isak and are weighing up a move for Chelsea star Nicolas Jackson to strengthen their attacking options
Newcastle are eyeing a move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson after they finally agreed a deal to sell Alexander Isak to Liverpool. Isak has been pushing to join the Reds all summer, with the Sweden international effectively going on strike and accusing Newcastle of breaking promises.
The 25-year-old is now set to get the move he wants after a deal worth £125million was agreed between the two clubs, with Isak becoming the most expensive player Premier League history as a result.
Newcastle have already signed striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart in a club record deal worth around £65m and the Magpies are looking to bring in another forward now that Isak is set to depart.
According to the Telegraph, Newcastle have re-opened talks with Chelsea over a move for Jackson. The report states that the club are confident another striker will be signed on deadline day and that is one of the main reason's they sanctioned Isak's exit.
Newcastle had bids rejected for Brentford star Yoane Wissa and Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen earlier this summer and it is claimed that it is unlikely that either player will end up at St James' Park before the transfer window slams shut.
Newcastle have missed out on a number of strikers this window, having also targeted Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko before they ended up signing for Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United respectively.
"It seems like the striker market gets tighter every year," Newcastle boss Eddie Howe admitted earlier this month. "Maybe that's because we have continued to grow as a team.
"There's not many players of that calibre to make us better and when they're potentially available the price seems to go up, and then you are dealt other challenges like PSR, how much you spend in the window, the long-term effects if you do the transfer.
"It is not as clear as going out and getting any player. They have got to fit the team, make us better and be affordable. That's not a large group of players."
Newcastle have also signed winger Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest, defender Malick Thiaw from AC Milan and midfielder Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa, while goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has joined on loan from Southampton with an option to buy.

If someone told Chelsea will be fighting to keep Jackson while Bayern willing to put outrageous money to get him while Newcastle trying to get his services in the end of last season people will put them in a mental ward
