According to Lee Ryder, Newcastle's beat reporter for local media outlet chroniclelive, Newcastle owner PIF is not involved in the Bruno Guimaraes transfer saga—despite rumors of high-level talks.
It is understood that Newcastle's Saudi investors are not involved in Guimaraes's transfer, and that rumored board-level talks with super-agent Kia Joorabchian have not taken place.
Newcastle chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan held talks with CEO Darren Eales in New York earlier this month before the World Cup final. However, the PIF boss has full confidence in Eales and sporting director Dan Ashworth, who are solely responsible for transfer affairs and led all acquisition negotiations this summer.
This situation will remain unchanged, as PIF wants the first team to handle day-to-day matters and is committed to empowering the management team hired since its return in 2021.
As yesterday's reports of "negotiations being in the late stages" sparked growing discontent among Arsenal fans, we have been explicitly informed: there is no "parallel channel of negotiation" with PIF regarding transfer matters, and the Saudi co-owners have placed great trust in Eales and Ashworth, who were hired in 2025.
Reportedly, despite reports of "contact between Arsenal and Newcastle," Newcastle have not held any new negotiations with Arsenal's top brass.
If Arsenal make a formal offer, the initial contact would be between Ashworth and Arsenal's sporting director, Edu Gaspar. Sources from both clubs confirmed yesterday that no in-depth negotiations have taken place, and Guimaraes is expected to return to the team for training on Friday.
It is understood that Arsenal are unwilling to pay an £80 million transfer fee for Guimaraes, while Newcastle had previously rejected a £70 million offer that emerged last Friday following leaks from London.
It is currently unclear whether Guimaraes will travel with the team on the club's charter flight to La Manga or fly directly to Spain from South America. However, Newcastle has not sought any assurances from Guimaraes and expects him to maintain the same level of commitment he has shown since joining in 2022, when the team was 19th in the league.

As a Newcastle supporter I watch Bruno a lot. He’s a great player, but not a superstar. Arsenal are already a great team. They need someone to make them greater, not keep them the same. In my mind, Arsenal will be the same team with ior without him.
I do understand your view and perspective, but just imagine the midfield trio of, M.Odėgaard..D.Rice. & Bruno, that’s exactly what we the Arsenal need, Experience and Versatility…you don’t want to face such midfielders bro

This story is so fake, Dan Ashworth was at Newcastle united a few years back, he went to Man united as sporting director, left united 5 months later and he is now the FA's chief officer. Edu Gasper is at Nottingham Forest right now. How are they expected to meet in regards to Bruno's transfer from Newcastle united to Arsenal FC?
