Hugo Ekitike is reportedly closing in on a move to PSG after the French giants agreed a fee with Reims for the striker, who was a top target for Newcastle.
The Magpies chased the signature of the 20-year-old throughout January but were unsuccessful in their pursuit, leading them to signing Burnley striker Chris Wood.
Manager Eddie Howe will now be disappointed to find out that the striker is close to sealing a move to PSG, according to French newspaper L'Equipe.
Newcastle had remained interested in signing the young striker but a deal collapsed last month.
The report claims that the French giants have agreed a £25.5million fee for the France Under-20 international.
The deal is still yet to be completed as the clubs need to agree on whether the fee will be paid in one large sum or in installments.
There are now qualms over Ekitike's contract, which is said to be agreed, with the player ready to sign a five-year deal with PSG.
Ekitike flourished last season for Reims in Ligue 1, as he scored 10 goals in 24 appearances, outscoring every teenager in Europe's top five leagues.
Newcastle will have to find another attacker to bolster their frontline and compete with Wood and Callum Wilson.
Dwight Gale is still a Magpie but he could be on the way out of the club this summer, with multiple Championship sides interested in his signature.

Newcastle should stop wasting time competing with big clubs... They should get a proven coach, pay him well and let him get them to UEFA competitions by the end of next season, then players will be so much attracted to them based on their money and status
No offense mate but it's better to shut your mouth when you don't know anything . Newcastle had reached an agreement with Remis 2 months earlier , but bcuz of wage demands Newcastle decided to go against the move . Also PSG is no big club . No bigger than Newcastle atleast . Third , the manager Eddie Howe is amazing , he took the club from fr 19th to 11th in just 4 months . Changed the whole defence , Literally . 5 players two cb , two wingbacks and now a goal keeper . fourth , Newcastle have signed highly rated players like Botman and Bruno already . Fifth , they signed Nick Pope , a goalkeeper rated so highly in EPL that clubs like Chelsea , Spurs wanted him . Sixth , the team's expected to finish atleast in UECL spot this season .any also predict that they may end up in Uel by the end of the season . Seventh , Howe helped the team to rise from nowhere to respected position in 4 months , and sacking him would be unethical . Any football fan who follows EPL closely enough knows that Newcastle is already in the big league . Now Allfootball is a shítty app I agree and they don't care about football at all they rather post Fking WAGS than genuine football news but pls stop this bs saying things about teams you don't know .
