The board will be looking to secure yet another head coach at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after Igor Tudor was shown the door
After just 44 days at the helm, Igor Tudor has departed Tottenham Hotspur, leaving the club in a precarious position with relegation looming—despite having played Champions League football only last week. The Premier League side has struggled domestically this season, with injuries compounding their difficulties. With only seven games remaining and Spurs sitting just one point above the relegation zone, a swift solution is urgently needed.
This weekend’s FA Cup fixtures provide the board with a brief window to appoint a new manager, but they must move quickly to implement the successor’s playing style before Tottenham travel to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland on April 12, when Premier League action resumes.
Several high-profile names continue to be linked with the relegation-threatened club, with former Brighton & Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi now the bookmakers’ clear favourite. The 46-year-old, who is currently a free agent, has previously been connected with the Tottenham job and is reportedly interested in a return to the Premier League.
Betfred’s Robert Ford commented: “Former Brighton and Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi has been backed into odds-on favourite to be the next manager of Tottenham Hotspur. The Italian’s odds have shortened to 4/6 from even money, making him the clear frontrunner ahead of former Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche and ex-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, who are both at 8/1. Former Juventus manager Thiago Motta’s odds were halved to 8/1 yesterday but have since drifted out to 12/1, making him an outsider for the role.”
The expectations are low following Tudor’s brief tenure, during which he managed just one win in seven matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
