With PSG potentially forced to sell one of Neymar or Kylian Mbappé over 'financial fair play' breaches, Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the situation.
Neymar and Kylian Mbappé's days at Paris Saint-Germain could be numbered following the emergence of new details about UEFA's ongoing investigations into alleged 'financial fair play' (FFP) breaches by the club. European football's governing body is looking closely into the signings of the pair (for 222m euros and 180m euros, respectively), which are costing PSG 150m euros a year. With the Ligue 1 holders potentially facing exclusion from the Champions League - the stiffest punishment being considered - they may be forced to sell one of the two superstars.
And as Real Madrid eye a big-name signing with which to strengthen this season's first-team squad, Los Blancos are keeping close tabs on the situation. Both forwards have long been on the LaLiga giants' radar, particularly in the wake of Cristiano Ronaldo's departure for Juventus last summer.
Neymar the likelier target of the two
Neymar would be the preferred target for Madrid, who unsuccessfully targeted the Brazilian last summer. What's more, while PSG owner Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani's priority would previously have been to hold on to the former Barcelona ace, Mbappé now looks to be the less likely of the two to be let go. A local boy and a World Cup winner with France, the 19-year-old has blossomed into the side's most important player and the fans' chief idol, with figures that back up his standing: this season, he has 13 goals and six assists to his name in all competitions.
On the other hand, Neymar sat out a large portion of last season through injury, a broken bone in his foot confining him to the sidelines for a run-in in which PSG did not overly miss the 26-year-old, winning Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue without their world-record signing.
Mbappé chose PSG over Madrid in 2017
It has been revealed that Madrid were close to taking Mbappé to the Bernabéu in summer 2017, agreeing a fee of 180m euros for the then-Monaco starlet. However, the striker finally opted to go to PSG instead. When he signed for the French capital club, he tried - without success - to have a clause inserted in his contract granting him financial compensation were PSG barred from the Champions League.

This voting will never yield result if Mbappe will get 99% and Neymar get 1%, No serious club in this world will buy Mbappe and leave Neymar supposing if the two players are on sells. People are failing to see that about 85% goals of PSG are from Neymar, every goal is started by Neymar. if Mbappe is the one who has this influences I don't think people will mention Neymar name. by the way if you are not watching psg matches how come you haters of Neymar are saying Mbappe is very best. yes 👍 Mbappe is very good but he is not at NEYMAR level.

neymar will be defying all rivalry rules that Madrid and barca have agreed on since day one if he signs for the los blancos but truth be told, he is the likelier product as All football puts it, even if mbappe is the better choice. but neymar, will have to Battle for his own spot if he arrives at Madrid in future because under Solari, youngsters like vinicius are beginning to blossom, and Solari from what has happened so far, is used to making use of what he has on ground, he wouldn't mind if neymar is not fit, he will just bench him and move on as we have seen him do to isco and asencio, he is doesn't really give thought to the star status of players but will definitely encourage a player to deliver and live up to his reputation as we have seen him do to bale recently. but neymar is a great great player still in his twenties and with a thoughtful and encouraging manager like Solari, neymar too, can become a galacticos if he loves the idea and decides to join his fellow Brazilian superstars at Madrid
