Neymar is 'annoying as HELL', blasts Benfica's Joao Mario

Benfica midfielder Joao Mario has described Neymar as 'annoying as hell'.

The Portuguese side drew 1-1 with Neymar's PSG in the Champions League for the second time in a week last night, with Mario scoring from the penalty spot in the second half after Kylian Mbappe had given the French champions the lead.

Speaking after the draw via GOAL, Mario criticised Neymar for his intentions during the game, explaining how 'he has the need to bicker with players on the pitch' during games.

'Neymar plays very well,' Mario said. 'But he's annoying as hell on the pitch.

'One of the best players in the world, very talented, [but] I think he has the need to bicker with players on the pitch.

'Absolutely normal. It's a pleasure for us to play against him.'

Neymar struggled in the two draws with Benfica, failing to find the net in either game in what is now a tightly-contested Group H table.

Reports of a rift between the 30-year-old and team-mate Mbappe won't go away, and tension is rife in the PSG camp at the minute with Mbappe reportedly once again wanting to leave the club.

After choosing to sign a new mega-deal to stay in Paris in the summer over a move to Real Madrid, Marca and L'Equipe reported yesterday that the French star feels 'betrayed' by the club owners as he seeks a move away.

PSG boss Christophe Galtier last night however rubbished the report, claiming 'a rumour became a piece of information'.

He said: 'I don't know anything. I just know that a rumour became a piece of information and then almost a statement. I haven't seen anything different, I find it surprising that this happens before an important match.

'I've never heard of any discussions. Kylian played a very rhythmic, very intense match. He gave an answer to this rumour. I don't think this rumour has disrupted the preparation of the match.

'I didn't talk about it at all with my players, nor with my staff. We stayed focused on the preparation of the match. I am surprised.'
