After Paris Saint-Germain overcame Liverpool, the club's young star wants the Ligue 1 champions to make the most of their position
Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe expects a "complicated" trip to Red Star Belgrade, but he urged his team to capitalise on their win over Liverpool.
Goals from Juan Bernat and Neymar helped PSG to an important 2-1 home victory over the Premier League giants in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Ligue 1 champions can now secure a spot in the knockout round if they beat Red Star Belgrade in Group C on December 11 but anything short of that would leave their place in the last 16 very much in doubt .
Mbappe is eager for PSG to make the most of their chance, although he understands the challenges his side will face against a team unbeaten at home since October 2017.
"In the group, nobody won there so it's going to be complicated," he said, via L'Equipe .
"We will have to put as much intensity and as much desire there. It would be really catastrophic to make a match like that [against Liverpool] and not qualify."
James Milner's penalty on the stroke of half-time had given the Premier League side hope against PSG, but the hosts were relatively comfortable in closing out their win.
Mbappe believes his team proved a point with their victory, but insisted they never doubted their quality.
"It's a relief and a satisfaction too. We were able to answer, we showed that we could answer in this kind of match," he said.
"We are very satisfied and now we are going to finish the work in Belgrade. Beyond playing games, we have shown that we can also be men, in front of men.
"There was no worry. We are sure of our group, sure of our strength. We knew we had to do more, but we always knew we could do it."
That belief seems to be well justified considering the club's record in Europe's top competition.
Despite still being in search of their first title, PSG have now reached 50 wins in the Champions League in just 95 outings. Only Real Madrid (50 wins in 88) and Barcelona (50 in 93) have hit that mark quicker.
The French giants return to league action against Bordeaux on Sunday as they look to maintain their 100 per cent record in Ligue 1 this season.

He might have not been so frequently active but he did his job everytime he was called upon. Everytime he got the ball he looked a threat to the defence. He is a centre forward for christ sake what else did you want him to do?

8.5 for Mbappé? I thought he was poor tonight, especially in the second half. If he gets 8.5 for this, what should he get for his game against Argentina in the World Cup? 12? And 8 for Cavani? Neymar gets 7 and he was better than both of them. Very strange rating.
they don't know shxt about football ball are play football to rate anyone they are fxxkin haters that all

Makes no sense. I'm not even gonna make an argument cause if you watched the game you know these are all wrong. Neymar best on the pitch and cavani was pretty much invisible.

The attack that set up the second PSG goal was so impressive. Mbappe just ran away from everyone with his pace. Beautiful work between he and Neymar.

Neymar is the most talented, yet Salah maximises his talent better.. I like both Mane and Mbappe but the latter's decision-making ability is so good.. Firmino and Cavani both are very hardworking and cover lots of space and yet, the former edges it for me.

Liverpool blew the opposition away last season in Europe, battered city 3 times. Tuchel knows he will ultimately be fired if PSG lose tonight, that's why he's rested Neymar and Mbappe for 3 weeks. He's still desperate to recover from his european thumping with Dortmund at Anfield.

The most tactically and versatile attack lines are in Barca and Turin. As for these two teams, Mbappe and Neymar are on a level where people will part with an arm and a leg to procure their services. It's not the same for Salah, Sane etc. Please!
