Eintracht signs Arthur Theate. The center-back joins on loan until the end of the current season, with Frankfurt holding an option to buy.

Belgian international Arthur Theate was born in Liège, Belgium, in 2000 and began his career in the youth academies of Standard Liège and KRC Genk. At the age of 20, he made his professional debut for the then Belgian first-division club KV Oostende, quickly establishing himself as a regular starter.

After 40 competitive matches and five goals in his first season, Theate initially moved on loan to Italian Serie A side Bologna FC. The 1.85-meter-tall center-back, who can also play as a left-back, quickly became a key player there as well. Bologna eventually signed him permanently after 31 league appearances, in which he recorded two goals and one assist.

In the summer of 2022, the left-footer moved to French Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais FC, where the 24-year-old became a regular starter, as evidenced by 82 competitive matches, eight goals, and one assist over two seasons.

Arthur Theate is a Belgian international. He progressed through all the youth levels from U15 and made his senior debut at the age of 21. The defender played in three matches at this year’s European Championship.

Eintracht staff say: "We are very pleased that we were able to convince Arthur of our path."

Sporting Director Markus Krösche: “We have been following Arthur Theate very closely for a long time. Last season, it was not financially feasible to complete this transfer. We are very pleased that we were able to convince Arthur of our vision. Due to his technical skills and game intelligence, we are confident that he will strengthen us primarily in the left center-back position and optionally as a left-back, regardless of the system.”

Arthur Theate: “I had already heard a lot of good things about Eintracht, the stadium, and the fans. During the European Championship, I got a taste of the atmosphere here with Belgium. Ultimately, the discussions with those responsible, including Markus Krösche, convinced me. It is inspiring what the club has achieved in recent years and how it has celebrated its successes. That is exactly what I want too: to perform, to win titles. The fans, the stadium, the prospects – it all fits perfectly together.”
