OFFICIAL: Arsenal smash transfer record to sign Nicolas Pepe for €80m from Lille

  /  Geralt

Nicolas Pepe has become Arsenal's record signing after joining from Ligue 1 club Lille.

The Ivory Coast international completed the paperwork on his move on Thursday. He will wear the No.19 shirt.

It is understood the transfer will involve a £20m upfront fee, with the rest to be paid in instalments over the next five years due to the Gunners' transfer constraints.

The 24-year-old had emerged as the Gunners' primary target after hitting 23 goals in 41 games for the Ligue 1 side last season - his 22 league goals leaving him behind only Kylian Mbappe in the scoring charts.

The move allows Arsenal to break their transfer record, which was previously £56m for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January 2018.
