Julián Álvarez’s transfer to FC Barcelona will not be negotiated as unanimous support from the Board of Directors for the club's strategy

The members of the Board of Directors of Atlético de Madrid have unanimously expressed their full support for the club's decision not to negotiate the transfer of Julián Alvarez to Fútbol Club Barcelona.
The members of the Board of Directors are aware that "Atlético de Madrid is open to the standard negotiations of the transfer market, but always in an ethical and professional manner and with respect between clubs. We fully support the position previously communicated by the club that Futbol Club Barcelona has not complied with these requirements, and consequently there has been and will be no negotiation with them regarding the transfer of Julián Alvarez".
Atlético de Madrid is convinced that our player will understand this decision, and will focus on working to the best of his ability to help the club achieve its objectives, just as he has done over the two seasons he has been representing our colours.

The reaction of some fans to this is just another prove that many don't understand football, let alone understand the business side. A footballer has the right to make a transfer request and this will is only necessary when the player is still under a valid contract with his current club. In the same way, the club has the right to accept or deny. Also, there'd definitely be a destination club where the player wishes to go and it's a poor sense of judgement to paint the desired club as wrong/bad. Since Atletico has refused to negotiate with Barca, the latter will seek other targets while the former is left to deal with the situation of an unhappy footballer in their ranks.

Well I doubt you are a Barcelona fan. secondly, I doubt you have a bit of understanding of how transfer works. Barcelona approached the transfer just like any other clubs did, by speaking to the players agent to know the situation if the player is interested, if the agent gives it go ahead, then they submit bidding to the club of the player. At least you must have heard from a football journalist like Romano saying "personal terms agreed with the player in question while negotiations are about to start or ongoing with the two clubs" so tell me where Barcelona got it wrong? The only thing Barca did was to submit a proposal which any other club does. Another reason to know you are not a Barca fan is because you should have known that the same approach you are critical about Barca also happened to Barca from other clubs like PSG and even athletico Madrid. E.g when PSG decided to sign Dembele and Ferran, did you think PSG approached Barcelona first? No. they met their agents to show interest. We released Suarez, David Villa, infact Griezman that we bought for huge amounts from them, we sold him back for cheap. As bad as Athletico was in the last two seasons, they clause on Griezman that should have made us earn money from them if he plays certain numbers of games, they decided to bench him just because they don't want to pay. You don't even understand anything. If it was done that way then clubs will loss one of their sources of revenue, which is transfer fees. Many small clubs make most of their income via transfer.
