Chelsea Football Club has been advised that its owner Roman Abramovich has been sanctioned by the UK Government.
The newest club statement claims the following:
"By virtue of his 100 per cent ownership of Chelsea FC plc and affiliated entities, Chelsea FC would normally be subject to the same sanctions regime as Mr Abramovich. However, the UK Government has issued a general licence that permits Chelsea FC to continue certain activities.
We will fulfil our men’s and women’s team fixtures today against Norwich and West Ham, respectively, and intend to engage in discussions with the UK Government regarding the scope of the licence. This will include seeking permission for the licence to be amended in order to allow the Club to operate as normal as possible. We will also be seeking guidance from the UK Government on the impact of these measures on the Chelsea Foundation and its important work in our communities.
The Club will update further when it is appropriate to do so."

Iam not a Chelsea fan but what UK is doing in respect of Chelsea football is totally a sheer hatred for the club owner, what concern football club politics! UK beware north London would have not received facelift had not Chelsea becoming a great club. You have forgotten the help Roman extended your country during COVID-19 era in London. this is totally bull sheet! what does the football club has got to do with the politics, ? the UK government should stop tomenting the Chelsea family psychologically, mentally and physically for the mistake that is not theres' ! Those people r innocent for goodness sake! lots of people suffered during COVID- 19 , they lost their jobs some got pay cuts and there were on the vague of finding their feet nd now this...! where do you want them to find their livelihood when u shut almost every operations in the club or do you have other motives we fans don't know?( like destroying the club completely) If that's so which team do u want me to support now

Ooooo….What’s that going to do to Russia? Russian government is so scared now! This is a historic English club loved by fans all over the world… NOT owned by Russian government but an Individual who happens to be Russian origin. Who made his life and bussines over here in England. He’s the best thing happened to the Club. If you are punishing him for being a Russian, then with that logic crack down on all the Russians living here in England, freeze their bank accounts and businesses and all livelihood. You are now provoking a much bigger war! Shameful England …
