Cremonese confirmed that even if relegated to Serie B, Gianpaolo will continue to coach the team and lead them in the 2026/27 season.
The club stated that the experience of the Abruzzo-born coach is a key factor in the team's plans for next season. Gianpaolo has always been good at developing young players during his 20-year coaching career, which was evident during his first stint at Cremonese, when 21-year-old Federico Di Francesco and even younger Remanai performed outstandingly in the 2014/15 season.
Cremonese also mentioned in its announcement that players such as Paredes, Piotr Zieliński, Patrik Schick, and Milan Škriniar grew under Gianpaolo before establishing themselves in domestic and international football. After completing 413 professional matches as a coach, Gianpaolo will return to Cremonese, having previously led the team in 35 matches.
