OFFICIAL: Fermín contract extension agreed & Set to stay until 2031

FC Barcelona and the player reach agreement and he is set to stay until 30 June 2031.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT:

Agreement has been reached between FC Barcelona and first team player Fermín López to extend and improve his contract for a further two seasons up to 30 June 2031.

The contract will be signed during the coming days in the office of president Joan Laporta, when the player will also be speaking to the media.

Present and future of Barça

So, FC Barcelona and Fermín López are set to remain together for many more years. The Andalusian midfielder renews his commitment to the Club after living the dream of every child in La Masia, achieved by working hard, persevering and bringing talent.

Born in El Campillo (Huelva) on 11 May 2003, Fermín joined FC Barcelona in summer 2016 aged 13 years old. He developed as a player and a person in La Masia, taking on board the values and style that define Barça. His road was not always easy, but every step and every effort strengthened a competitive nature that now makes the difference in the first team.

After going through the different levels of blaugrana youth football, he went on loan to Linares Deportivo in summer 2022, which was key to helping him develop. He showed he was ready to make the leap and on returning to Barça, Fermín made the most of every opportunity with determination, energy and a special focus on attacking play.

A midfielder who arrives late into the box, he has character and is strongly committed to the defensive side of the game. Fermín is known for intensity, pressing, important goals and total commitment. He is a player who understands what the badge means, competing for every ball and he connects with the fans given how he understands football.

His performances have seen him become key figure in the Barça first team plans and this extension shows the mutual confidence on both sides. Fermín López will continue to grow as a blaugrana and Barça will continue to grow with him.
