A great honor for Lennart Karl: The 17-year-old FC Bayern Munich attacker was awarded the silver Fritz Walter Medal by the German Football Association. The gold medal went to Alexander Staff (Eintracht Frankfurt), and the bronze medal went to Elias Vali Fard (Borrusia Mönchengladbach).

Karl moved from SV Viktoria Aschaffenburg's youth academy to FC Bayern Campus in the summer of 2022. The talented attacker made his first appearance for the German record champions' first team in the 10-0 victory against Auckland City at the Club World Cup in the USA. In August, Karl extended his contract with FC Bayern and has been a permanent member of head coach Vincent Kompany's squad since this summer. Since then, he has appeared in nine competitive matches for the Munich club. Karl also progressed through the ranks of several German Football Association (DFB) youth teams and was a regular member of the German U17 national team at the World Cup in Albania in May.

With the Fritz Walter Medal, Karl joins a distinguished list of former FC Bayern youth players who have already received this award: Toni Kroos received the gold medal in the U18 category in 2008, and Emre Can won gold in the U17 category in 2011.

In addition, three FC Bayern Women's players received a Fritz Walter Medal: Alara Şehitler received gold in the U19 age group. In the U17 age group, Luzie Zähringer won gold, and Marie Gmeineder received bronze.
