The Catalan has signed a two-year contract extension after leading the Blues to a record-breaking Premier League title victory
Pep Guardiola has signed a two-year contract extension at Manchester City, the Premier League champions have confirmed.
Guardiola is two years into the three-year deal he penned in the summer of 2016, but has now pledged his future to City until the summer of 2021.
The 47-year-old's new deal marks a coup for the Blues, who are keen to keep hold of their coach for as long as possible.
"I am so happy and excited. It’s a pleasure to be able to work here," Guardiola told City's official website.
"I enjoy working with our players every day and we will try to do our best together in the coming years. As a manager, you have to feel good to be with the players – and I feel good.
"I will focus on the desire of my players to become a better team and every day that’s what I will try to do – to improve on the pitch and improve our players. We have a young squad with an average age of 23 and we want to keep taking steps forward and maintain the levels we’ve achieved this season."
During his time at Barcelona Guardiola only signed one-year extensions, and even said at one point that if he could sign six-month deals he would do so. At Bayern Munich he honoured his three-year contract before moving to the Premier League.
City have long wanted to tie Guardiola down to a longer deal and their resolve has only increased as the team's impressive season progressed.
Initial talks had taken place not long into last season, but the decision was made to push back formal negotiations until the summer as it had quickly become obvious that all parties were keen to renew.
City had established a lead at the top of the Premier League table at that time and neither Guardiola nor the club wanted any distractions.
However, by early spring it became clear that City would win the title and Guardiola's agent, Josep Maria Orobitg, began ironing out the terms of an extension with the City hierarchy.
“This season has been another step of our strategic plan and the continuous effort to improve the football we play," said CEO Ferran Soriano.
"We are very pleased with the progress. There is more work to do and having Pep committed to Manchester City for the next three seasons gives us the stability to be able to continue our journey to beautiful football and success for the club.”

(1)Carlo Ancelotti did it with AC MILAN,CHELSEA ,REAL MADRID,PSG and BAYERN MUNICH (2) Jose Mourinho has done it with FC PORTO,CHELSEA, INTER, REAL MADRID and now MAN U. (3) Zidane has won two champions league with REAL MADRID without signing any huge player and he is in the final of the champions league again going against Liverpool with signing any player again this year the same old players.LOL good managers how much did MAN city spend to win the league.
How much did Mourihno spend on his first reign in Chelsea?? which club scattered English transfer fees?? Which players would you sign in Madrid with the world best player straight 2 years running. Can you compare the squad of city last season to the inter team Mourihno inherited. Don't be a dummy, that inter team wasn't an average team. they have won back to back seria A titles 3 times and created a record 17 wins in a role before mourinho took over. That team had players like zlantan, milito etc and zenite at his prime don't say things you have no idea about. No coach can work without good players that's the truth, spending is relative to what you have on ground. No team will release over 9 players in one season and don't spend to replace them. only a fool will be dwelling on the issues of how much Pep spent because if any coach in the big teams want to sign the team would provide the cash. A case is pogba signings and Sanchez, this shows that if Mourihno wanted to spend 500 million united would have backed him but he didn't because he felt it wasn't needed

Listen to all these 'so-called experts' fail to dispute Pep Guardiola's claim for manager of the season... let's break this down so it is easier for you to comprehend... Pep has equalled and shattered records that stood in the league for decades, records set by Ferguson, Mourinho, and Ancelotti to name a few... He broke those records in a SINGLE season, not over 2 seasons, not 3 or 4... One, uno!... Digest that for a second... Now you have the fools who say he's a check book manager.. Smh, such morons... You really dont know much about football do you??. Did Pep buy De Bruyne, D. Silva, Aguero, Sterling, Delph, Otamendi, Kompany??.. All those players have had their best season playing, none of which he bought plus you add those he did buy who are young and hungry playing their best football yet; Sane, G. Jesus, Walker, John Stones, Ederson... Every single one of them improved immensely... That's a coach right there; the ability to coach a player to the best of their ability, to expand their understanding of the game... Other's claim Sean Dyce should have won it.. A viable candidate i believe, he did great to finish 7th with that team... But then have a look at the -3 goal difference... That's indicative of the way his team plays; organized, defensively shaped, rigid, structured... Is that atttactive and spectacular? No.... But perhaps people like that... Then there's the Mourinho argument... I have to pause a second and LOL... Really?? Two managers in the same city both of them in charge of wealthy clubs and quality teams... But the point difference between the two is 19 points... Oh, Lets not forget the Klopp argument too.. Some will say he beat City three times this season (i will send Klopp a tea cup for his triumph over City, i bet he will cherish it, his 1st trophy at the Kop since taking over Liverpool)but cant beat Westbrom, still trophy-less as of today's date... Come on guys, be serious I know common sense is a hard commodity to get these days but this isnt really rocket science... Give the man (Pep) his credit and the respects he deserves... Clearly there isn't a manager who has been categorically better than Pep Guardiola this season...
