OFFICIAL: Nico Williams signs a contract extension with Athletic Club until 2035

Athletic Club have officially announced that Nico Williams signs his strong bond with Athletic. The charismatic winger signs a deal at San Mamés until 2035 with the aim of "continuing to make history with the club of my life."

Nico Williams aims to continue making history with Athletic Club, with whom he signed his strong contract today at San Mamés, extending his contract until June 30, 2035, the longest-lasting agreement for the first team. It adds eight years to his previous contract, which was signed this afternoon alongside the president, Jon Uriarte, the general director of football, Mikel González, and his brother and captain, Iñaki Williams. Also present were his mother, María Arthuer, an ambassador for Athletic Club's 125th anniversary, and his friends, who had a surprise gift in the form of a painting for him. The red-and-white family is in luck.  

The renewal of Nico Williams, the footballer with the greatest international projection in our club's history, has been a major boost to the sporting project. Following in the footsteps of Iñaki, who extended his contract until 2028 in 2019, the younger brother's continued contract is a boost to Athletic's confidence in a very exciting year, with the return to the Champions League eleven seasons later, a competition in which both players will make their debut.

Nico was delighted and all smiles at the traditional event, where Athletic WIN (Williams, Iñaki, and Nico) were prominently present. He wore a new shirt from Athletic Club's AC line, inspired by the WIN concept and reflecting the style's triumph over the powerful offerings of other clubs. The star of the day emphasized: "We have very ambitious titles at stake, like the Champions League. What better way to do it than with the club of my life. I'd like to continue making history here at San Mamés, with the fans and my family." 

He also had words of thanks for his brother Iñaki: "We've both always dreamed of this moment. My brother is a role model for everyone, and especially for me. I think he's the best person to be captain. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the armband for a long time." 

Finally, Nico sent a message to the Athletic Club family: "I hope to give back to the fullest with everything they've given me. I hope they enjoy it as much as always. This is also for them. I've always had a lot of affection for them, and I'm very proud of the fans I have."
