The forward, who signed a new contract today, becomes the first two-time winner from Brazil

Igor Thiago has made history after winning the January EA SPORTS Player of the Month award.

The Brentford forward, who signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract today, becomes the first Brazilian in Premier League history to win the award on multiple occasions.

After claiming the prize in November 2025, Thiago added a further five goals to his Premier League tally to win January's award as the Bees kept their surprise bid for a top-six finish on track with wins over Everton and Sunderland.

All of Thiago's goals came in those two victories, recording a hat-trick against Everton and two goals versus Sunderland as he continued to chase down Erling Haaland in the race for this season's Coca-Cola Golden Boot.

Thiago: I look forward to winning more

"I've asked people at the club how many Brentford players have won this, and they told me that nobody had received this trophy before me," Thiago said on Brentford's website.

"So I'm really happy to have won it two times now and I look forward to, hopefully, winning more!

"I also want to thank all of the staff and all of the players for their support and for helping me on the pitch."

In January, Thiago also set the record for most goals from a Brazilian in a single season, overtaking the previous record of 15.
