FC Bayern will be without Alphonso Davies for a long time after the international break. Dayot Upamecano will also be out for the coming weeks.

Davies was diagnosed with a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee after returning from the Canadian national team. He will undergo surgery today. The 24-year-old will miss the German record champions for several months. Upamecano has been diagnosed with free joint bodies in his left knee, which means he will not be available to FC Bayern for several weeks.

Max Eberl, FC Bayern's sporting director: "Unfortunately, there is always the risk of players coming back injured during international breaks - this time it has hit us particularly hard. The absence of Alphonso Davies and Dayot Upamecano weighs heavily on FC Bayern. Phonzy will get all the support he needs on his way back. We will also be following Upa closely in the coming weeks and assume that he will be available to us again soon. Our squad is strong and will make up for these absences. We will now move even closer together. The quality is there to continue pursuing our big goals."

Davies went off injured early on in Canada's 2-1 win over the USA in California. Upamecano and France had made it to the UEFA Nations League Final Four with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory over Croatia in Paris.
