Video assistant referees will be used in the Premier League next season, after the clubs agreed in principal to the move.
At a shareholders' meeting today, clubs were provided with an update on this season's VAR trials.
The Premier League will now make a formal request to the International Football Association Board and Fifa to use VAR next season.
"Premier League clubs have agreed in principle to introduce Video Assistant Referees (VAR) to the competition in the 2019/20 season," a statement on the league's website read.
"At a Shareholders’ Meeting today, clubs were provided with an update on the non-live VAR trials being undertaken by the League and Professional Game Match Officials (PGMOL) this season.
"Key learnings from VAR's use in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, and other leagues across the world, were discussed in detail.
"The Premier League’s non-live testing programme will remain in place for the rest of this season, with a continued emphasis on those Saturday afternoons which have several matches being played concurrently, and developing a clear protocol for communicating VAR decisions to fans.
"The League will now formally make a request to the International Football Association Board and FIFA to use VAR next season."

VAR disturbed little bit the game but gives solidity to the referees..We can miss some great celebrations with VAR but it changes teams mentality..Who they dive fake for penalties now they will watch their steps....

The VAR is only good when the referees consult it from time to time instead of insisting they are right...and when they do that a lot it kills the flow of the game... VAR is a good idea but I think it needs to be worked on. However we have to make do with it for now... let's just say its a necessary evil...

Personally I am not supporting this system, whats even the reason to have any referee if we're just gonna put in video cameras instead. The referees are a part of the sport, they should bee able to make mistakes exactly like the players. Also, the long pause that's between the situation and the desicion is terrible, I don't understand how they can be able to have it in the prem, after the mayority has been voting it down after the world cup.

During Barcelona's loss to betis VAR wasn't used to check pique's handball or the offside in the build up to vidal's goal but it was used against betis. Even Simeone complained about VAR against Madrid and there are also complaints in serie A. Football will always have controversies

Ill be honest, only thing I don't like about VAR is when there's plays that could be a penalty or red card BUT they don't even view the play..but yet stop the game for some no calls..but I hope they well prefect it soon enough.

Okay , it is a good move because some situations really need confirmation. I saw a lot of errors in BPL this season. But i hate the fact that a match is stopped to confirm a goal , that kills mood for celebrations in players. But nice one. we will see how it goes. VAR is fair.

Sometimes referees are also at fault even after referring to VAR and sometimes they don't want to consult with VAR. The prime example is the World Cup Final. A foul was given which was not at all a foul. It was a dive by Antoine Griezmann. Instead of showing him yellow card a foul was given from which 1st goal was scored. The second one was penalty decision. The referee was in total confusion and not in his element despite seeing the replays on more than one occasion after consulting VAR & awarded the most controversial penalty and thereby killed the spirit of the game of football. The job of the referees to conduct the game with as low margin of error as possible. Now as VAR is available, error should be minimised to almost zero. What referees should do is to erase *e* from ego.

Now VAR is becoming not a special but neccessary and general feature of football. This is a positive n progressive step. I'm sure VAR will prevail everywhere after sometime.

VAR. Means VIDEO ASSISTANT REFEREES. To assist the Referee. I must confess to the world that this VAR is not not helping Sometimes, It is be used in Italy and Spain, But Some Referees are not using it sometimes, and it makes it worse. some examples are, IN ITALY SERIE A, on the 27- Oct -2018, Empoli Vs Juventus, IN the 53 minutes of the game, Juventus were 1 goal down, The Referee awarded a Penalty to Juventus, which was never a Penalty and the players were still begging the referee to View the VAR, but the referee said no. it also happen again against AC Milan, but the was very wrong. So if it is introduced to England, Will it be the same? for me, I think the FA should Have a meeting with all the Referees and let them know that they should always Work with the VAR.

VAR it's best because it will reduce conflict about referees and players when Morata heard that [vampire][vampire][vampire][vampire] now will be confused
