Messi appeared when the Camp Nou needed him most, forcing the ball over the line for his first and his side's second before scoring a beautiful free-kick to make it 3-0.
The Barcelona captain worked tremendously hard, and even went out of his way to ensure that Philippe Coutinho was not whistled after being taken off by Ernesto Valverde.
Messi, as has often been the case down the years, was the most decisive player on the pitch.

Like I said earlier, both teams are great and have incredible players and it was like 50-50. But we got the result on our side today. We Barca fan shouldnβt be humiliating Liverpool fans here and Liverpool fans should accept the result. We should be over confident because we still have 90 minutes to play and we have tasted the same situation with Roma before. And I know Liverpool are better than Roma. We should focus on second leg and get through the final. But I know that Liverpool have nothing to loose, so they are going to make us suffer as much as they can and beat us. But we should play calm on our own style and get the victory over them. I like Klopp and his team and have respect to them BUT like I always say that if any team plays against Barca then my wish, support always go to my team.
