Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that players will leave this transfer window at Manchester United.

It comes as the Red Devils look to sign a number of big-name stars ahead of the new season.

United are desperate to win a title - particularly the Premier League, a trophy they have not won since 2013.

And to do so, the likes of Ed Woodward and John Murtough are working hard to sign the likes of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Eduardo Camavinga.

But that means United will have to allow others to leave with Solskjaer admitting that some of the youngsters are being readied for loans away.

It comes as the club began pre-season training, though a sizeable chunk of the first-team will be given more time off after participating in the Euro 2020 tournament, including the likes of Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.

“Gradually, more and more players from the Euros will join in,” Solskjaer said.

“They’ll [the youngsters] get a taste of some football. Then roundabouts early August, some will go on loan.

“We’ve already lined up a few and some of them are still in discussions between us and the players about where is the best place to go.”

Solskjaer did not reveal who is being primed for a summer departure but there have been plenty of reports indicating that the likes of James Garner, Dylan Levitt and Aliou Traore could leave - while Tahith Chong has already joined Birmingham.

“Pre-season is always a fresh start, a new start with new opportunities to look forward to the season,” Solskjaer added.

“Some of the players have just started their holiday, so we know it’s a depleted squad, but it gives the young kids a taste of what it is like to have a proper pre-season with top professionals like Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata in the first team, Lee Grant, Tom Heaton is back.

“They’ve done it so many times. Mason [Greenwood], Aaron [Wan-Bissaka], Axel [Tuanzebe] are first-team players who will bring these boys along and it’s a good opportunity for them.”

United will stay in the country this summer amid the Covid restrictions to continue their pre-season programme.

In years gone by, there have been tours of Asia and America but in the current climate, that has proved too risky.

Their first friendly of 2021 will go ahead later this month against Derby County with Wayne Rooney in charge.

Solskjaer is expected to field a team of mainly youngsters on July 18.
