Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed the one player he's 'upset' that Manchester United sold and suggested they were an 'important' member of the squad.
The Norwegian, who was named as Besiktas manager last month, spent three years in the United dugout before his brutal sacking back in 2021.
Despite his unceremonious departure from the club where he also spent 11 seasons as a player, Solskjaer admitted that he still looks out for the Red Devils' results.
When asked if he still watches their games, he told The Athletic: 'When I can. It’s still good to see Bruno Fernandes and Harry [Maguire] doing well.
'And Scotty [McTominay] is doing well at Napoli. I’m upset that we let him go because he was important last season when he kept popping up with goals.
'His heart and his knowledge of the culture were important'.
Scotland international McTominay left United for Serie A side Napoli in the summer and has enjoyed a stunning campaign, helping them sit top of the league table.
After becoming the most expensive Scot ever in a £26million summer move, he has been showing United what they're missing out on, scoring seven goals in all competitions.
While McTominay has hit new heights on Italian soil, United have languished in the bottom-half of the league table and currently sit 14th.
Questions have been asked about the tactics chosen by Ruben Amorim, having lost eight of his 16 league matches since taking charge at Old Trafford.
In an attempt to dissect the current issues at United, Solskjaer whether they need to be patient with the Portuguese boss.
He responded: 'That’s for the people at the top (of United), but an issue is that the manager plays with the previous manager’s players.
'I just remember a great time at United apart from the last six weeks. Great people — and the culture is in the people. Going back to United was like going back to my family, like I’d never been away.
'But Besiktas also feels like a family club, with respect for each other. There are members of staff who’ve been here for 10, 20, 30 years'.
United stars are reportedly furious with Ruben Amorim but are not yet close enough to their manager to air their grievances with him.
The pressure valve was released a little at Old Trafford after Wednesday's 3-2 win over Ipswich dragged Man United up to 14th in the Premier League table.
But, off the pitch, it has been another dire week for the club. On Monday, chief executive Omar Berrada confirmed that up to 200 members of staff could lose their jobs.
Now, The Sun are reporting that those comments have caused disharmony in the Man United dressing room.
A source told The Sun: 'If you went into Carrington you would think the players and Amorim are getting on great. But the truth is the players are frustrated for being blamed for the financial problems of the club.
'However they haven’t challenged the manager as they haven’t yet formed a bond with him.

the management were very stupid enough to sell better players and they bought useless players. and Glazers should not have accepted Jim Ratcliffe offer that was the onother blunder the Glazer family have done that have lead the club to the worst situation.

Ole, you were the only better coach since Sir Alex.... The useless owners didn't give you 100 % chance to sign Young players you needed to build Man UTD, but they opted for money by buying Ronaldo... You're a great coach from grassroots!!! I miss united beating Man City time and again!

He would have been the perfect midfield engine for Amorin alongside Ugarte.

Man United made a blunder in selling McTominay and colleagues in the likes of Freddy , Wan Bissaka and loaning out Anthony , Jordan Sancho and Rashford thinking that they are flops while neglecting to find out the real problem engulfing the team
