Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has shot down claims that he ever threatened to quit the club over the potential deadline day sale of captain Marc Guehi.
Speaking at the club press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash with Sunderland the Austrian said: ‘It's the last time I want to talk about it...the fans deserve to hear about how it really was.
'One, I never threatened to leave the club. Never. Two, after many discussions, the chairman asked me “do you think we can manage the season if we sell Marc?”.’
His words should put to rest the rumours of Glasner’s unhappiness with Eagles chairman Steve Parish, who was in charge of the club’s transfers following the departure of Dougie Freedman.
Glasner showered England international Guehi with praise, calling him a ‘very honest person’ and insisting that he was ‘never worried about the situation’ despite the club reportedly accepting a bid from Liverpool for the centre-half.
Glasner, whose contract runs out at the end of the season, was confident that Guehi will be leading the side going forward. ‘The most important thing, it was a happy ending,’ said the manager. ‘It was clear, for him, that he stuck to his contract.’
Palace did sign France U21 defender Jaydee Canvot on deadline day from Toulouse in a deal worth up to £22.5 million. But Glasner said the young defender would not be able to replace Guehi due to his inexperience and would not be playing straight away.
In a boost for Eagles fans Glasner revealed that the injuries to Adam Wharton and Ismaila Sarr were not as bad as first feared, revealing that he hoped that they would be back for the Liverpool game in a few weeks along with striker Eddie Nketiah.

this guy should piss off. why did you let Eze go to Arsenal? the truth is that this manager doesn't want Guehi to go to Liverpool.
What ever Guehi is LFC player what can Gasner do.

Gleaner is a screwed up lier. If he plans to over use Guehi means trouble for LFC. He is not going to Madrid with the risk of losing England WC squad. England is where Guehi’s future lies.

Glasner won, Liverpool was even, but Crystal Palace lost.

I blame both CP and Glasner for this fiasco. Guehi already made a farewell video; which means, the agreement was already done beforehand. When they were fully aware that Guehi would be leaving, why leave it till the final day to find a replacement!??
