Osasuna 1-2 Barcelona: Lewandowski & Ferran's late strikes see visitors one step from title

  /  R47

Barcelona took a huge step towards retaining their LaLiga crown after a 2-1 victory over Osasuna.

Match Report

Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres scored in the final 10 minutes at Estadio El Sadar, meaning Barca will be champions if they avoid defeat against Real Madrid next week, or if Los Blancos fail to beat Espanyol on Sunday.

Lewandowski had the first clear chance after being found by Dani Olmo's reverse pass, but the Barca striker could not keep his strike down as it flew over the bar.

Olmo then fired over with a half-chance of his own from distance, while Roony Bardghji forced Sergio Herrera into a comfortable save as the visitors looked to make a breakthrough.

However, Osasuna went close to scoring against the run of play before half-time, with Ante Budimir clipping the post with the outside of his boot and then being denied by Joan Garcia moments later.

Alejandro Catena made a crucial block early in the second half to keep out Olmo, though Lewandowski got the better of Herrera in the 81st minute as he headed in from Marcus Rashford's pinpoint cross.

Ferran doubled their lead soon after with a composed finish from Fermin Lopez's pass, though Ruben Garcia set up a nervy finish when heading in from Abel Bretones' cross in the 88th minute.

Data Debrief: Barca win 10 in a row

There was not much to split the two sides in the expected goals (xG) battle, with Osasuna creating 0.91 from nine shots to Barca's 1.2 from 13 attempts.

Pedri was once again the composer for Barca, creating the joint-most chances (two) while registering the most touches (105) and accurate passes (84), but it was substitute Rashford's pass that sent the Blaugrana on their way to victory.

Barca have now won 10 consecutive LaLiga matches, reaching that figure in a single season for the first time since March 2016, when they won 12 straight games under Luis Enrique.
