Nigerian international Victor Osimhen has been crowned Footballer of the Year at the 72nd Annual Milliyet Sports Awards, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s finest exports in European football.
The prestigious awards, widely regarded as one of Turkey’s highest sporting honours, recognised Osimhen’s outstanding performances for Galatasaray, where he played a pivotal role in the club’s domestic double triumph last season.
The 27-year-old striker delivered an exceptional league campaign, scoring 26 goals and providing four assists in 30 appearances for the Yellow and Reds.
His contributions extended beyond the domestic scene, as he netted seven goals in the UEFA Europa League and added five more in the Turkish Cup, underlining his consistency across all competitions.
Osimhen has carried that impressive form into the current season, registering 19 goals and seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, maintaining his reputation as a reliable and prolific forward.
Despite his recent success, the Nigerian star is currently sidelined as he recuperates from an arm injury, temporarily halting his momentum.
However, expectations remain high that he will return to action soon and continue his fine goal-scoring form for Galatasaray.
Osimhen’s latest accolade not only highlights his individual brilliance but also reinforces his growing influence in Turkish and European football.
