As the Super Eagles gear up for their last-16 clash against Mozambique at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, striker Victor Osimhen was among three players absent from the squad’s New Year’s Day training session.
The other players who missed the session were Ryan Alebiosu and Cyriel Dessers. Head coach Eric Chelle confirmed that the team trained behind closed doors on Thursday, with the absentees noted.
Both Alebiosu and Dessers are carrying injuries and are considered unlikely to feature against Mozambique.
Osimhen, on the other hand, was reportedly given a rest as part of the coaching staff’s careful load management strategy, with the Nigerian talisman being closely monitored to maintain peak fitness.
The Super Eagles are looking to continue their impressive run in Morocco, with expectations high for Osimhen to lead the attack should he feature against the Southern African side.
