Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has issued a heartfelt apology to Nigerians following the national team’s failure to qualify for the FIFA World Cup, while pledging total commitment and a strong performance at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Osimhen, one of Nigeria’s most influential footballers in recent years, admitted that missing out on the World Cup was deeply painful for both the players and the fans.
Speaking with emotion, the Galatasaray forward acknowledged the disappointment felt across the country, stressing that the team fell short of expectations despite the immense talent within the squad.
“I know how much the World Cup means to Nigerians,” Osimhen said. “As players, we feel that pain as well.
“We are sorry for not making it to the World Cup.
” It hurts us deeply because we know how proud Nigerians are of the Super Eagles and how much support we always receive.”
The 26-year-old striker, who has established himself as one of Africa’s top forwards, assured fans that the setback has only strengthened the team’s resolve ahead of AFCON.
He emphasized that the players are determined to respond positively by giving their all on the continental stage.
Osimhen promised that the Super Eagles will approach AFCON with renewed hunger, discipline, and unity, aiming to restore pride and belief among supporters.
“AFCON is another opportunity for us to make Nigerians happy again,” he added.
“We will fight for every ball, play with our hearts, and do everything possible to bring joy back to the nation.”
Nigeria, a three-time AFCON champion, will be targeting a strong run in the tournament as they look to move past the disappointment of World Cup qualification and reassert their status among Africa’s elite football nations.
Osimhen’s message has been widely welcomed by fans, many of whom see his leadership and passion as vital to Nigeria’s chances at AFCON, as the Super Eagles seek redemption and a return to winning ways on the continental stage.

With no contradiction to your statement knowing fully that we Nigerians are not happy due to the absent of the world Cup, But calling them Fools is the height of it I ask you retrace your statement appropriately without using foul language Thank you
I get it bro but you know, we felt seriously insulted by their most recent showings even though the insults weren't directed to us verbally. I wasted my resources - both finance and time - and got insults, embarrassment, shame and trauma in return. This bunch deserve every bit of insult from this side. No reason am

On a personal level, Victor Osimhen did well and was our best player for the World Cup qualifier. It was shameful that other players didn't perform to their best; they were sluggish, selfish and unpatriotic throughout even to the Playoff. In all, we will still support our Nation for the AFCON...we can't reject our team.
I'd rather you personalized the support for your terrible nation. No add anybody join. I refuse to identify with shame, disgrace and embarrassment
