Ousmane Dembele issues new injury update ahead of Champions League final vs PSG

Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain clash in Budapest later this month in the Champions League final and the French giants have been given a slight scare ahead of that game

Ousmane Dembele has confirmed that he is fit and firing ahead of the Champions League final despite an injury scare. The French winger appeared to pick up an injury in Paris Saint-Germain’s final league game of the season against Paris FC.

He was taken off after just 26 minutes. But Dembele has confirmed that he has not picked up a serious issue and is ready to play against Arsenal.

He said: “I’m doing very well. I had a slight scare against Paris FC, but I’m fine and I’ll be ready for the final. Will I be 100 per cent for the final? Yes, I think so. Yes, I’ll be ready. I have no doubt about it. I hope to be on the pitch on May 30th.”

Dembele added: "I've had so many minor scares or major injuries in my career, whether here at PSG or even before, especially with the big matches coming up, especially this final, I preferred to stop and above all not take any risks."

After winning the Ballon d’Or last year, Dembele has enjoyed another sensational season after helping PSG to the Ligue 1 crown and a spot in the Champions League final. The 29-year-old has scored 19 goals and notched a further 11 assists in all competitions.

Dembele is not the only one from the PSG camp to have spoken out ahead of the Champions League final. Boss Luis Enrique also gave his thoughts on Arsenal after they were officially crowned as Premier League champions.

"If you look at Arteta's stats, there you have it. He's a leading manager who, since taking over at Arsenal, has changed the team's mentality and what it means to be a team that hadn't won in a long time," the Spanish coach said in a press conference.

"Now they're competitive again. For the last four seasons, they've been improving. That's the image of what Arteta is all about. Good with the ball. He doesn't give it away. We haven't won the possession battle every time we've faced them.

"Without the ball, they're the best team in Europe in terms of goals created and received. And he's won the Premier League, which is a very high-level competition.

"Last year, they weren't in the Champions League because we were lucky enough to beat them. He's a top-level manager. He's been to some very good places, learning from Pep [Guardiola] at [Manchester] City. What he conveys is pretty much what we see from his players."
