Paris Saint-Germain were held to a dramatic 2-2 draw by Lorient at the Parc des Princes, opening the door for Lens to close in on them at the Ligue 1 summit.
Match Report
Luis Enrique's side moved seven points clear at the top of the table, though that could be cut to four if second-placed Lens win away at Nice on Saturday evening.
PSG got off to a perfect start as Ibrahim Mbaye unknowingly put them ahead after just six minutes. Yvon Mvogo failed to properly deal with Desire Doue's cross, parrying it straight into the net off Mbaye's face.
But Lorient levelled the scores six minutes later as Pablo Pagis finished off a simple combination with Panos Katseris, volleying into the bottom-left corner with his left foot.
Doue nearly restored PSG's lead with a sublime move shortly after, effortlessly beating three Lorient defenders before sending a bending shot just wide of the post.
Mvogo twice denied PSG as the hosts piled on the pressure, but substitute Warren Zaire-Emery put them back ahead less than one minute after coming on, firing a low drive into the net off Laurent Abergel's heel in the 62nd minute.
Lorient once more rose to the occasion, though, drawing level against the run of play in the 78th minute courtesy of a fine individual bit of skill and finish from substitute Aiyegun Tosin.
PSG thought their blushes would be spared in stoppage time when they were awarded a penalty as Senny Mayulu's cross was adjudged to have struck Noah Cadiou's hand, but the decision was overturned following a VAR review and the hosts had to settle for a point.
Data Debrief: Lorient do the unthinkable in Paris
Having already secured a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture at home earlier this season, Lorient are now the first promoted side to remain unbeaten against PSG in a single Ligue 1 season since Monaco in 2013-14 (D2).
The draw also marks the first time PSG have failed to beat Lorient in a Ligue 1 season since 2010-11. It was the Parisians' first league draw since facing Lorient in October, ending a 20-match run without one (W16 L4).
The hosts produced 1.99 expected goals (xG), but it was the visitors who made the most of their opportunities, scoring twice from just 0.79 xG.
