Paris Saint-Germain 'are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba' with the France midfielder very much open to a move to the Ligue 1 club.
Pogba's United contract expires in the summer and with little chance of a renewal the 28-year-old is free as of this month to speak to foreign clubs over a free summer transfer.
PSG, Real Madrid and his former club Juventus lead the chase for the 2018 World Cup winner but, according to a report by L'Equipe in his homeland, a move to Paris is the most likely outcome.
They say Pogba's experience, his ability to fit into their team and his technical qualities are all plus points for PSG with the fact they could sign him for nothing once his United contract expires an added bonus.
L'Equipe say PSG have also received positive feedback from the player about the potential move but they are conscious of not upsetting the balance of the dressing room with big names Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe already there.
A return to Juventus, where Pogba played between 2012 and 2016, is reportedly the least likely option.
Real Madrid remains a potential destination but when Pogba was last linked with the Bernabeu in 2019, it was the presence of his compatriot Zinedine Zidane as manager that was the main attraction.
Although Carlo Ancelotti appreciates Pogba's qualities, his feeling isn't as strong as Zidane's and Real may instead prioritise a move for Mbappe in the summer, which will require a similarly large outlay on salary.
Pogba is free to open negotiations with any suitor as his United contract moves into its final six months. They paid out a club record £89million transfer fee to bring him back to Old Trafford in 2016.
Despite scoring 38 times in 212 outings for United, Pogba hasn't scaled the heights expected after such a colossal transfer fee.
He is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained while on international duty with France in November and isn't expected back in action until the end of January.
Interim coach Ralf Rangnick has already made it clear that he won't be making any effort to convince Pogba to extend his stay with the club.
The German said in December: 'Players have to want to stay and play for the club.
'For a big club like Manchester United, if a player does not want to play for a club like Manchester United, even in the long-term, I don't think it makes sense to convince him to change his mind.'
Rangnick hasn't had the chance to properly assess how Pogba will fit into his tactical plans but it would take an extraordinary turn of events for him to stay beyond the summer.

Nowadays football is becoming all about money & fame. It's not a good sign. This could ruin the future of football.
