PSG 'can't relax' in Ligue 1 title race, insists matchwinner Neves

Joao Neves saluted Paris Saint-Germain's "spirit" after the reigning Ligue 1 champions' dramatic victory over Lyon.

PSG left it late for the second week running, with Neves heading in a 95th-minute winner to seal a narrow 3-2 success at Groupama Stadium.

Indeed, the Parisiens have now won their last two Ligue 1 matches thanks to goals scored after the 90th minute, as many as in their previous 100 top-flight games.

More importantly, it lifted Luis Enrique's side back to the Ligue 1 summit, having surrendered top spot following victories for Marseille and Lens on Saturday.

And Neves believes the tight battle at the top of the table will keep his team-mates on their toes.

"The most important thing is that the team wins," he told reporters. "It's not my goal, it's not the other player's goal, the team is always the most important.

"We started the match stronger and didn't stop until the end, so I think that was the key to this victory.

"It gives us some comfort [going top of the table], but we know that this championship is very difficult.

"The teams are very strong, and we can't relax at every moment. So, I think this is a demonstration of our work, of our spirit."

Meanwhile, Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso vented his frustration at referee Benoit Bastien, who reduced the hosts to 10 men in stoppage time, dismissing Nicolas Tagliafico for a second bookable offence prior to Neves' winner.

"It's totally infuriating to concede a goal like that at the end," Tolisso said. "We played a good game, and we'll remember that.

"We have to do better at refereeing in general, because there are mistakes every weekend. We don't understand everything that's going on, there is a need for more dialogue. We are told things at the beginning of the year, but this is not what is applied."
