Paris Saint-Germain are looking to avoid losing one of the most talented players in the world after 'opening talks with Kylian Mbappe over a new deal'.
The 20-year-old finished top scorer in Ligue 1 with 30 goals and, according to the Telegraph, club officials have opened contract negotiations following his stark admission on his future at the awards night.
Mbappe does still have three years left to run on his current deal at the Parc des Princes but the club are looking to further secure their prized asset.
The striker's comments at the Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels (UNFP) Football Awards Ceremony left manager Thomas Tuchel stunned as Mbappe's future was thrown into doubt.
'This is a very important moment for me, I am arriving at maybe the first or second turning point in my career,' Mbappe said, as he collected his awards.
'I have learned so much here, and I feel it's maybe the time to have more responsibility. Maybe at PSG, that would give me great pleasure, or maybe elsewhere for a new project.'
Mbappe joined the club in a deal that went on to cost PSG £158m from Monaco and as his stock continues to rise, so does his value.
The latest report about negotiations over a 12-month extension getting underway include detail that the club are ready to give Mbappe more responsibility and they share his sentiments to further improve the side.
