Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed the departure of their captain Thiago Silva on Twitter.
The official PSG account honoured the Brazilian's commitment and involvement with the club by sharing a montage of his best moments since joining from AC Milan in 2012.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi also paid tribute to the defender by thanking him for his 'devotion' to the club during his eight seasons with the French giants and referred to him as 'one of the greatest players in history'.
PSG's official account shared his montage with the accompanying caption: ‘You marked the history of the Club. Red and Blue for life. Forever in our hearts.’
The president's words followed: ‘Thiago, thank you for these eight memorable years, full of lasting memories and for your involvement, your devotion and your aura.
‘You will forever be one of the greatest players in history, and your legendary status here at PSG will last forever.
‘I wish you and your family the best for your future challenges, you will always be part of the family and the history of the club, a big thank you Captain!’
Having played his last game for the club in Sunday's Champions League Final - losing 1-0 to Bayern Munich in Lisbon - the 35-year-old will now leave the French capital.
Silva has won 23 trophies in a successful campaign at the club but says he much move on to face a new challenge in order to cement his place in the national team.
Silva is expected to join Frank Lampard's Chelsea imminently, with the Blues manager keen to bolster his defence after conceding 54 Premier League goals last term.
