PSG the favourites to win the Champions League?

After Liverpool’s elimination on Tuesday, Arne Slot said that the side that beat them, Paris Saint-Germain, could go all the way in the UEFA Champions League. Opta’s predictions back that up.

PSG reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season and are hoping to go even further this campaign. Having knocked Liverpool out of the competition at the Round of 16 phase, Luis Enrique’s men will face Aston Villa in the quarter-finals.

Opta have analysed the favourites to lift the trophy in Munich later this year and PSG are one of them. The analysis found that Barcelona are the most likely winner of this season’s Champions League. The La Liga side have a 20.4% chance of lifting the trophy. PSG are not far behind with a 19.3% chance. Arsenal (16.8%) rank third, Inter Milan (16.4%) are fourth, reigning champions Real Madrid (13.6%) are fifth.

Bayern Munich, who hope to win the Champions League in their own city are ranked sixth (9.7%), Aston Villa seventh (2.8%), and Borussia Dortmund, of the eight remaining teams, are ranked as the least likely team to win the whole thing (1%).
