The head of the PSG ultras group has admitted that they 'have been harsh' with Neymar although he insisted the Brazilian has shown no desire to mend the broken relationship.

Neymar became the most expensive player on the planet when he sealed a £198million move to PSG from Barcelona in 2017.

However, despite winning 13 trophies with the French giants, the fans have never forgiven him for trying to return to Barcelona after just two years.

The Spanish giants were desperate to bring the Brazilian forward back to the Nou Camp after he made it clear that he wanted to leave Paris.

Ever since, Neymar has been subjected to boos, abusive banners and an overall hatred from the ultras.

However, Romain Mabille, head of the Collectif Ultras Paris, has admitted the fans may have gone too far, but he also suggested Neymar has not made any effort to resolve the relationship.

'The road to redemption will be long. It’s true that the banner that insulted his mother was harsh, we were harsh,' he told France Bleu Paris.

'The fact is that people gave him so much love at the start. He is a player who walks on the emotional side, we could have had a relationship.

'There has been no desire from the club or from Neymar to restore the situation.

'I am open to a discussion. If we can talk to each other to move forward together to find solutions but as a supporter, we don't have to run after him.

'The fact also that he doesn't greet people, at the limit that he doesn't greet the Collectif Ultras Paris.'

Ultras have previously held banners up which said: 'Neymar go away', while another read: 'Neymar - getting ****** by a prostitute doesn't only happen at a remontada - remember?'

Last April, Neymar took a swipe at the PSG boo-boys after his side were met with jeers despite clinching the Ligue 1 title.

Despite the domestic success, fans were furious that PSG were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid.

'I still have a contract with Paris Saint-Germain,' he told ESPN Argentina at the time.

'I'm here for three more years, so stop [booing] or you'll need more air.'

Neymar returned to training this week after a short spell on the sidelines which forced him to miss PSG's wins over Montpellier and Toulouse.
