PSG's star-studded front three put to the test at the Bernabeu

Paris Saint-Germain are in the Spanish capital and ready to take on Real Madrid, most likely with their star-studded front three leading from the front. Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi are all expected to start at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

But the three have been questioned since coming together in the summer, and only Mbappe has been spared from facing criticism of his performances.

In total, they've only played 10 games together this season, of which they've won five, drawn three and lost two. Messi was slow to appear in the team, and then Neymar fell injured in November.

But everything suggests they'll all play on Wednesday and Angel Di Maria will be the man to miss out, despite playing well in the first leg.

Mauricio Pochettino is expected to name Neymar in the XI, having used him from the bench in the first leg. Since then, he started in the loss at Nantes, the win against Saint-Etienne and the latest defeat away at Nice. He's taking time to get back to his best.

It shouldn't be forgotten though that Neymar has often carried PSG in Europe, and that's where he has delivered his best performances since joining the club from Barcelona in 2017. Bayern Munich and Manchester City both learned that last season.

Then there's Messi, who is still the focus of so much attention and criticism from the French media. He's not going to be taken out of the team, but he hasn't quite hit the heights expected of him in Paris. He was signed to win the Champions League, though, and now is the time for him to step up. Of Messi's seven goals this season, five have come in seven Champions League appearances.

Mbappe was the hero in Paris and he has been outshining his partners in attack this season. He's the leader of this team, and the player the fans love the most. In 34 games this season, he has 24 goals and 17 assists.
