Luiz and Cyprus' Pafos has been one of the big stories from this season's Champions League.
He recalled to Sky Italia: "When we were at Chelsea, he and I argued constantly, but we both wanted the same thing. I thought he'd been angry with me for years.
"But then we won the Premier League and the FA Cup. Before returning to Europe, he wanted me at Napoli. He said he needed a player like me, intense and crazy.
"In the end, I didn't go because I didn't have a European passport."
On Pafos, Luiz added: "From the first moment, I felt this city's passion for football. When you go to a place where people appreciate and respect you, everything becomes easier. I've known the club's owners for many, many years.
"They know my next step will be to become a coach."
