Panama qualifies for 2026 World Cup after swept El Salvador

In the final round of Group A in the 2026 North, Central America and Caribbean Football Confederation (CONCACAF) World Cup qualifiers, Panama defeated El Salvador while Suriname suffered defeat, securing Panama's direct qualification for the 2026 CONCACAF World Cup!

Prior to the final round of matches, Suriname and Panama were level on nine points, with Suriname occupying top spot on goal difference. However, Panama secured victory in their final fixture while Suriname suffered a 3-0 defeat to Guatemala. Consequently, Panama overturned Suriname's lead in the final round to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico!

Panama's 2018 World Cup in Russia marked their historic debut at the tournament. Though they suffered defeats in all three group stage matches against Belgium, England and Tunisia, finishing bottom of their group, but they scored their first-ever World Cup goal against England.
