Paris Saint-Germain take last ever Coupe de la Ligue title on penalties

Paris Saint-Germain won the last ever Coupe de la Lique by beating Lyon on penalties after a scoreless 120 minutes.

PSG went close first through Neymar and were the better side in the first half without being at their best, with Neymar sending a shot wide and Anthony Lopes being called upon to deny Idrissa Gueye and Angel Di Maria.

Memphis Depay was unsurprisingly at the heart of most things Lyon looked to do, but he wasn't able to get the better of Keylor Navas in PSG's goal.

The Parisiens did all they could to kill the game off in the 90, but just couldn't break through before extra time came and went without any goals though Rafael was sent off in the dying moments for a poor foul on Di Maria.

In the shootout, Joachim Andersen, Karl Toko Ekambi, Maxence Caqueret, Thiago Mendes, Houssem Aouar all converted for Lyon before Bertrand Traore missed their sixth attempt.

That meant that Di Maria, Marco Verratti, Leandro Paredes, Ander Herrera, Neymar and Pablo Sarabia's converted efforts secured the title for PSG.
