Paul Pogba has said that his career with Manchester United is 'not over' despite interim manager saying as much following the Frenchman's calf injury at Anfield.
Pogba, 29, went off with an injured calf inside the first 10 minutes of United's 4-0 evisceration at Anfield during the week.
While walking off Pogba was the subject of a smattering of jeers from the away supporters section following the booing he received at Old Trafford against Norwich.
It all appeared to suggest that the Frenchman had played his last game for the club, with even his current manager appearing to believe that the case.
However, the midfielder tweeted during his side's loss to Arsenal that his time in Manchester was 'not over'.
He wrote: 'Absolutely gutted to not be able to help the team in today's game. I will work even harder to come back stronger and hopefully before the end of the season.
'It's not over,' he added. 'Thank you all for your support, United we would stand!'
Rangnick had said prior to United's trip to Arsenal: 'All of the others are still injured and Paul with the scan, it is very likely he will not play until the end of the season again.
'The doctor told me it will take four weeks minimum for him to recover and the last game is at the end of May. I don't think it's very likely he will play again.'
The interim boss added: 'It's obvious there are quite a few players whose contracts are expiring, there might be a few others who are on loan might still want to be on loan or leave the club, it will be a significant change and rebuild necessary.'
Meanwhile, following United's second loss of the week, Rangnick dashed any hopes of United qualifying for the Champions League this season.
'Pretty sure [top four is gone]. For me even before the game it was not very likely but after today’s result it is gone yes,' he said.
Scott McTominay, who returned to the side for the trip to Arsenal, said after the game that there were a lot of 'problems' at the club that needed to be dealt with and said the club's remaining four games of the season are about 'pride'.
'There’s a whole load of problems in terms of players, staff, anything with higher up, we need to just concentrate on what happens on the pitch. There’s a lot of things going on at the minute,' McTominay said.
'The last four games are about pride for us. About showing some balls. Showing pride. We need to be dialled in on our jobs… It comes down to the basics and we never do them well enough.'
