Florentino Perez admitted to Real Madrid's partners at an assembly that the club had tried to sign Paul Pogba in the summer, just as they have tried to sign Robert Lewandowski in recent years as well.
The Madrid president explained that the selling club in both cases outright refused to sell, making the task impossible.
"There are players who don't get sold," Florentino said.
"We went for Lewandowski for several years and nothing happened because he has no clause and they [Bayern Munich] won't sell him.
"There's no way. And that's happened with Pogba. When certain players can be sold, we can go for them."
Florentino also addressed the problems the club faced last season, and recognised that mistakes were made.
"We had nine Ballon d'Or nominees and a team valued at 1.2 billion euros," Florentino explained.
"Last year the problem wasn't one player, but everyone's mentality.
"Important players have been signed, [Eden] Hazard among them."

I would love for Madrid to have Lewy..he practically offered himself to Madrid in recent years openly saying that joining Madrid is one of his goals..just like what Hazard did this summer..he would have been a lethal and worthy competition to Benz..perhaps even edging him to the bench based on his scoring record..now he just renewed his contract with Bayern..so no hope anymore..Madrid should have gone in harder for Lewy

And it will never happen. Zizou just work on with the ones available or look for other choices rather than crying over one man especially a flop of man utd

You are right Perez. All players should have clause and be allowed to move to other clubs if they want to. Specially for psg. This year with Neymar and now if Mbappe doesn't have clause how he is supposed to move to bigger club.
