According to reporter Keith Downey, Newcastle United goalkeeper Pope was excluded from the squad last night and has now fallen behind Honicek and Jovan in the goalkeeper pecking order.
Manager Eddie Howe said: "I have spoken with Pope, and he is fully aware of the current situation. We need to handle this in the best way possible." He continued: "But I admire him as a person and respect everything he has done in his career." Howe also explained: "I wanted to give the new signings 90 minutes of playing time."
