The Portuguese Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee did not mention national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo in its latest disciplinary statement, meaning he will soon return to the national team.

The Non-Professional Division of the Portuguese Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee issued a statement on Friday concerning a number of sanctions, but it did not mention the case involving Cristiano Ronaldo. It had previously been widely expected that the disciplinary outcome involving the national team captain would be announced at the same time, but he was not mentioned in the latest statement.

According to reports from several media outlets, because Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted his mistake, the suspension he may face could be reduced by half under the relevant regulations. In other words, the maximum suspension of six months would be shortened to three months, while the minimum suspension of one month would be reduced to 15 days.

If Cristiano Ronaldo receives a 15-day suspension, he could still be called up by Jorge Jesus for Portugal’s next two UEFA Nations League matches, against Wales on November 14 and Denmark on November 17.

If Cristiano Ronaldo is handed a three-month suspension, he would miss only these two matches but would be available for the next stage—the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals, scheduled for March 2027.
