According to Portuguese media outlet A Bola, Newcastle has contacted Benfica regarding the acquisition of Dedic, with Benfica demanding 35 million euros.
Reportedly, Newcastle United has proactively contacted Benfica regarding the acquisition of Dedic to discuss the basic terms of this potential deal, and the other party has given a clear bottom line – 35 million euros (equivalent to 30.3 million pounds) is the minimum price to start negotiations.
Dedic's contract includes a release clause of 50 million euros (43.3 million pounds), but the Portuguese team is willing to complete the sale for a price far below that amount.
It is claimed that Benfica president Rui Costa will not sit down to discuss any offer below 35 million euros.
However, once Newcastle's bid reaches this red line, Benfica will allow the player to leave. If the Magpies decide to push for the transfer, 35 million euros is the clear bidding target.
