Burnley defender Matthew Lowton needed treatment after being struck in the face by a bottle thrown from the crowd during their defeat at Leeds United.
Lowton was celebrating Maxwel Cornet's equaliser at Elland Road with his team-mates close to the touchline when he was hit by the missile.
Pictures showed the Coca-Cola bottle was at least half-full of liquid with Lowton reporting the incident to referee Kevin Friend before receiving medical attention from the Burnley physio.
The right-back was able to continue playing afterwards with Leeds going on to win the match 3-1.
The official Burnley Twitter account posted: 'Lowton received treatment, after missiles from the stand hit the player celebrating.'
Leeds could face a Football Association investigation following the incident, which is almost certain to be mentioned in referee Friend's match report.
Cornet had cancelled out Jack Harrison earlier goal but Leeds went on to claim all three points thanks to goals from Stuart Dallas and Daniel James.
The incident happened just 24 hours after Manchester City's Rodri was pelted by several objects, including bottles and toilet roll, after scoring his team's late winner at Arsenal.
Rodri celebrated in front of home supporters after scoring his 93rd-minute winner at the Emirates Stadium and was seen kicking objects back off the pitch alongside team-mate Kevin De Bruyne.
