The Premier League are set to offer live television coverage of every game taking place on a Sunday starting from the season after next, according to recent reports

The Premier League will be offering live television coverage of every match taking place on Sundays starting from the season after next, according to The Daily Mail.

It is claimed that there is a planned increase in how many matches will be shown live each campaign, going from 200 to 270. This means that all Sunday clashes may be available by the start of the 2024/25 season, something that could result in games taking place anywhere between 12pm and 7pm.

The number of televised fixtures on Friday and Monday nights are also set to increase in a bid to attract higher bidders from broadcasters in an auction that is set to take place later this year. It was reported by the Mirror back in April that the Premier League were open to the idea of ditching the likes of Sky Sports and BT Sport to broadcast matches on their own platform.

The Premier League’s current three-year deal with Sky and BT is set to expire in 2025, selling domestic rights for 2022-2025 for $6.3billion (£5.12billion.) However, prices are no doubt beginning to become a problem for the average supporter.

Chief executive of the Football Supporters Association Kevin Miles has spoken out on the financial strain that comes with paying for these platforms. "There’s no question that supporters are increasingly feeling the financial strain," he said.

"We’re not untouched by the general cost of living crisis but the more platforms there are, the more subscriptions we have to find. For those fans who want to watch everyone of the club’s televised games the costs are really starting to mount.”
