The Opta supercomputer has delivered its match predictions ahead of the latest weekend of the 2026-27 Premier League season, with the table beginning to take shape.
There's a new leader at the top, as Arsenal's 1-0 victory over Liverpool, coupled with Manchester City's 1-0 loss to Brighton, saw the reigning champions leapfrog Enzo Maresca's side last weekend.
The Seagulls are keeping the pressure on the top two, though, while Chelsea also got back to winning ways against Manchester United to move into the top four.
At the other end of the table, United are perched precariously above the relegation zone, though they got some much-needed relief in the Champions League in midweek, fighting back to beat Roma and halt their nine-game winless streak. Aston Villa await them next in the Premier League.
Matchday 10 sees fixtures take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday ahead of the upcoming international break.
Ahead of what should be another exciting slate of Premier League fixtures, let's check out the Opta supercomputer’s match predictions.
EVERTON V COVENTRY CITY
The action begins on Friday at Hill Dickinson Stadium, where Everton and Coventry City are both looking to build on wins last time out.
This will be the first meeting between Everton and Coventry in any competition since January 2001 – also in the Premier League – when the Toffees won 3-1 at Highfield Road.
And our predictive model is forecasting another Everton win, with David Moyes' side coming out on top in 55.9% of the pre-match simulations, compared to Coventry's 21.3%.
In all competitions, Everton have won four of their last seven games (D1 L2), beating Newcastle United in both the EFL Cup and Premier League in their last two. They haven't won three straight since August 2025.
Each of Everton's last five league wins have been to nil, but they've won none of their last 13 when conceding. That could be good news for Coventry, who have netted nine goals in their last five top-flight outings, having failed to score in their previous four.
LEEDS UNITED V TOTTENHAM
Onto Saturday, and a rejuvenated Tottenham are looking to stretch their winning streak to four games when they travel to Leeds United.
Spurs have not won four consecutive Premier League games since September and October 2023, and the supercomputer expects that run to continue; they have a win likelihood of 31.6%, whereas Leeds hold a 41.7% chance.
Leeds have picked up just five points in their last 13 league meetings with Spurs (W1 D2 L10) and haven't kept a clean sheet in any of their last 16 against them, but they have a strong home record, going unbeaten in their last eight at Elland Road (W4 D4).
Leeds are winless in their last five league games (D3 L2), though, losing 2-0 at Bournemouth last time out. They're still given a 26.7% chance of a draw, making it the joint-most likely stalemate of the weekend.
ARSENAL V HULL CITY
Arsenal are back on top of the Premier League table heading into MD10 thanks to their victory at Liverpool, and at 76.9%, they are the likeliest victors of the weekend.
They face a Hull City side who are winless in their last seven league games (D5 L2), with no side drawing more often than the Tigers this term. There's a 13.8% chance of a stalemate here, which would be Arsenal's first of the campaign.
Arsenal have won their last seven home league matches and have lost just one of 13 on home soil against Hull in all competitions (W8 D4), meaning the visitors face an uphill battle to turn their 9.3% win probability into three points.
The Gunners, who won 2-1 at Slavia Prague on Wednesday, are also unbeaten in their last 46 games against promoted sides in the league (W41 D5), winning the last 17.
FULHAM V NEWCASTLE UNITED
Newcastle United (30.3%) have struggled lately, suffering consecutive losses to Everton. But Matthias Jaissle will be determined to put that right at Fulham (43%).
Fulham have won three of their last four Premier League games against Newcastle (L1), having gone eight without beating them beforehand (D2 L6).
And Fulham are in improved form, going unbeaten in their last three league outings (W2 D1) – they have lost just one of their last six games in the competition (W2 D3).
None of the 18 Premier League meetings between Fulham and Newcastle in London have ended level (11 Fulham wins, seven Newcastle wins), but that could change this weekend; at 26.7%, this is the other most-likely draw on MD10.
NOTTINGHAM FOREST V MANCHESTER CITY
Back-to-back losses for Manchester City have seen them slip to second, but Maresca's men will be confident of overcoming a struggling Nottingham Forest side.
Two losses in their last two games is as many as City had suffered in their 33 league outings beforehand (W23 D8), but they come into this game on a high following a dramatic 3-2 Champions League success over RB Leipzig.
With a 50.9% chance of victory, City are the likeliest away winners on MD10, helped by the fact they've lost just one of their last nine Premier League games meetings with Forest (W5 D3).
However, they haven't recorded consecutive away wins against them in the top flight since January 1925.
As for Forest, who have a 25.8% chance of earning three points, they are winless in their six home league games (D3 L3) and have failed to score in their last four.
Despite having the second-most shots in the Premier League this season (152), Forest have scored the fewest goals (six), posting the lowest shot conversion rate (4%) and biggest negative xG difference (-8.3) this term, something they need to improve on soon.
BRIGHTON V BRENTFORD
On Sunday, high-flying Brighton will be looking to keep the pressure on the top two when they face Brentford, who got back in the win column against Forest last time out.
Brighton haven't lost to Brentford in the Premier League at the Amex Stadium (W3 D2), and the supercomputer is backing them to continue that run, assigning them a 54.8% win probability to the Bees' 21.9%.
Brighton have kept a clean sheet in each of their last nine Premier League victories, including all six this season, but Brentford are the only side to have scored in every game in the competition in 2026-27, opening the scoring a league-high eight times.
Brentford have lost on just one of their last 11 top-flight outings (W3 D7), but if they want to record consecutive league wins for the first time since February, they’ll have to keep the competition's highest scorers (24 goals) quiet.
CRYSTAL PALACE V LIVERPOOL
Pierre Sage is under increasing pressure at Crystal Palace, who will be desperate to get out of the relegation zone before the international break, but Liverpool are up next.
The Reds lost 3-2 at Fenerbahce in the Champions League on Wednesday, but on the domestic stage they have been particularly strong on the road this term.
Liverpool have won three of their four away Premier League games in 2026-27 (D1), and Andoni Iraola is unbeaten in all 13 of his away matches in the competition this calendar year.
Palace have a 27.1% win probability, having ended a 10-match winless streak in top-flight home games against Liverpool last season, triumphing 2-1 under Oliver Glasner. However, they haven't recorded consecutive such victories over the Reds since 1990-91 and 1991-92.
Liverpool's 49% chance of victory isn't hugely surprising, then.
Palace's dire run also plays into things – they've lost their last three league games without scoring and have conceded nine goals across those fixtures.
IPSWICH TOWN V BOURNEMOUTH
Bournemouth (42.6%) are on an upward trajectory after winning each of their last three league games, a run they're looking to continue against Ipswich Town (32.1%).
Bournemouth haven't lost on any of their four league visits to Portman Road (W1 D3), but they're winless in their last six Premier League games against promoted sides. Five of those have ended level (L1), and there is a 25.3% chance of another draw here.
Ipswich have taken seven points from their four home games this season (W2 D1 L1), as many as they did at Portman Road in the whole of 2024-25 (W1 D4 L14).
But they'll have to watch out for Evanilson on Sunday. The Brazilian has eight goal involvements in nine league games this season (four goals, four assists) and has scored in each of his last four – no Bournemouth player has ever netted in five in a row.
SUNDERLAND V CHELSEA
Sunderland have struggled to hit the heights of last season, when they beat Chelsea on the final day to clinch Europa League football, as the Black Cats now sit bottom of the table after nine games.
The Blues are expected to prevail in the teams' upcoming meeting, winning 43.7% of the pre-match simulations to their visitors' 31.2%, though they have lost their last two league games against Sunderland.
Chelsea have won three of their last four league games, including a 2-0 win over Man Utd last time out (L1), as many victories as they managed in their previous 14 (W3 D2 L9).
Sunderland, meanwhile, have lost five of their last six Premier League matches (D1), more defeats than they suffered in the 14 games before that run.
And the omens don't look good for Regis Le Bris' men. They've failed to score in their last three league games at the Stadium of Light and have conceded 17 goals in nine games this season. They are up against a Chelsea side who have scored 19 goals in 2026-27 and rank first in the Premier League for shots on target (53).
MANCHESTER UNITED V ASTON VILLA
The weekend finishes at Old Trafford, with Manchester United looking to build on their midweek Champions League defeat of Roma against Aston Villa.
Though Michael Carrick is still under severe pressure, United may have earned him a little longer at the helm with their comeback win on Tuesday. In the league, though, the Red Devils' only victory of the campaign was against promoted Ipswich Town in August (D4 L4).
That form has left them in 17th, only out of the relegation zone on goal difference heading into the weekend. They haven't started a league season with one win in 10 games since 1972-73 (W1 D4 L5).
Villa are faring much better despite a 3-0 defeat to Barcelona in midweek, as they are unbeaten in their last five league games.
Back in November 2022, they beat United in their first game under Unai Emery, who will oversee his 200th match in the competition here. Since then, though, Villa have only won one of seven meetings between the sides (D1 L5).
The supercomputer has struggled to split them, but United are slight favourites to end their seven-game winless streak (D4 L3) in the league, winning 39% of pre-match simulations to Villa's 34.4%. A draw is also a strong possibility at 26.5%.
